As spring is fading more into summer, the anticipation for warmer weather is only growing more intense. Impulses are dangerous pests that could keep a person from achieving their dream body — or anything. Impulses are those small little urges to act on something, whether it is good for you or not. Desire is a complicated construct because it can be both something good, as well as something bad for you. In this case, if you are acting impulsively, you may be reverting back to fast, foul habits. For instance, you may be eating fast-food, gulping sodas, and ingesting surprising amounts of sugar. An impulse would be a desire to drink a soda, but knowing it is not what you need to achieve your weight goals. Giving in to these impulses is one of the many ways most people don’t succeed in their weight goals.
Drive is one of the main things that will help someone reach a weight goal. Without enough drive, a goal can be overruled or ignored, which means you will go back to bad habits. Though motivation will give you a reason to do something, drive will keep you working at your goal. If you lose drive, losing weight will become almost impossible, as the need to work hard will diminish. Losing weight is dependent on your ability to work hard, consistently. Without that contant drive, you will lose the will to workout, eat well, and make smart, health-conscious decisions.

It is no secret that Americans struggle with their weight. 51 percent of all adults want to lose weight, but only 25 percent of them take their goals seriously. This lack of drive keeps many from achieving their goals, or even trying to live a healthier life. According to a Gallup survey, adults over 23 years of age report being 15 pounds heavier than they were in 1990. Of course, age does naturally make it harder to burn fat and easier to gain weight, especially when you are injured or busy. However, though you may have obstacles in your way, that doesn’t necessarily mean that you should ignore your health. Exercise is still incredibly important to the body.
